I am heading off to Snowdonia this week (staying at Pen-Y-Pass) and was looking for any suggestions for a couple of good, day walks in the area......anything considered as it isn't an area I know well. I've have done Snowdon via the Miner's previously.......Thanks in advance!
Oh - lucky you - there's a wealth of treasures awaiting. If you like a proper ridge, from Pen-Y-Pass the horseshoe, over Crib Goch and down by Lliwedd is obligatory.
ReplyDeleteMoel Siabod is great (best from the Capel Curig end).
If you like scrambling, drive round to Llyn Ogwen and do the North ridge of Tryfan, bristly ridge onto the Glyders and then down either on Y Gribin or via the Devil's Kitchen.
Also from Llyn Ogwen, Pen Yr Ole Wen (by it's east ridge, don't go straight up), Carnedd Dafydd, Carnedd Llewelyn, Pen yr Helgi Ddu, Pen Llithrig y Wrach - classic day. (The last two are the Hill of the black Hound and the Slippery Hill of the Witch apparently.)
I'm dead jealous now. Is that enough suggestions? (For smaller, quieter, rougher, try Cnicht)
Have a great trip.
Wow, thanks for the suggestions! I have done Tryfan, Bristly Ridge and the Glyders not that long ago.....Been looking at the Moels as well and will probably try one of the routes up Snowdon, did the Miners a while back but fancy something different. Cnicht appeals too.....help ,much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteSiabod & Cnicht are great place's. You could carry on to do the Moelwyns Mawr & Bach from Cnicht. Moel Hebog from bedgellert and also the Nantile ridge from Ryd Ddu or even Snowdon from Ryd Ddu via the south ridge :-)
ReplyDeleteHave fun
Cheers guys, I ended up doing Moel Hebog and Moel Ddu and then Snowdon via the Pyg. Plenty of suggestions for next time though! Thanks.
